GPT-4o Copilot May update

This week, we’ve upgraded the GPT-4o Copilot model for all code completion users.

What’s changing

We’ve updated the GPT-4o Copilot model released in March to a newer model version. This new mid-trained version has a more recent knowledge cutoff of March 2025, provides more useful suggestions, and has been improved through reinforcement learning in response to user feedback.

Availability

This upgraded model is generally available today—no additional steps are required to start using it!

Share your feedback

If you use VS Code, you can provide feedback on a specific code suggestion by hovering over the suggestion, selecting the More Actions... button on the code completion toolbar, and clicking Send Copilot Completion Feedback. If you use another IDE, please share your feedback on the GitHub Community.
